The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Dawn Peterson can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Obituary for Dawn Peterson

Dawn passed away peacefully in Burnaby General Hospital due to complications from heart disease, with her daughter Lesley at her side.

She was generous and loving, particularly when it came to her 3 grandsons who gave her such pride and joy. She maintained her independence, sharp wit and feisty spirit until the end.

Dawn was born in North Vancouver and grew up on the Sunshine Coast. She met and married her former husband Bob Peterson in Winnipeg, and then relocated back to Vancouver after their daughter was born.

She loved to work and spent most of her career with the T. Eaton Company in fashion, and later in financial planning after achieving a CFP designation. She retired from Laurentian Financial at the age of 71.

Lovingly survived by her daughter, Lesley Heieis (Mark); and grandsons, Graham, Adrian and Kevin. Pre-deceased by her parents, Tom and Jessie Bentham; her brother, Tom Bentham; and her partner of many years, Art Watts.

Thank you to the St. Paul’s Hospital TAVI program for giving her some extra years with us, and to the wonderful nurses in the Burnaby General ICU for making her last days comfortable.

If you knew Dawn, please share a few memories with your friends and family as there will be no memorial service as per her wishes.
