Obituary for John Auersperg

John Auersperg
John Auersperg (b. Friedland Cze 30 Jan 1930, d. 17 Sept 2017)

On Sunday, at home in Vancouver, our beloved John (Hansl) Auersperg passed into the arms of God. He went to sleep happy and at peace, looking forward, as always, to spending time with his family and friends.

John was predeceased by his father Eduard and his mother Sophie (nee Clam Gallas) and many siblings. “Pa” will be lovingly missed by his wife Nelly, his sister Clotilde, his daughter Maria (David), son Edward (Nancy), and grandchildren Anthony, Jamie, Elizabeth, John, Steven, and Natalie, as well as by many others. He experienced the bliss of meeting his great granddaughter, Ada. His love, devotion, and sense of duty, especially to his family, were boundless and unconditional. In his memory, he would like us all to spend even more time with our families.

He contributed to the success of the forest industry in B.C., and spent much of his free time helping to build the Friends of Chamber Music Society, and supporting several charities. For as long as he was able, he enjoyed the outdoors in Canada and his previous home, Austria. Despite some serious physical setbacks, he searched for the good in all circumstances, and showed gratitude for it throughout his life. We are all better people for his example.
